Where you are, why you're there

Destiny is inevitable.

You will be where you're meant to be, when you get there.
If you try to catch a cup as it is falling and it still drops, it was destiny. (lol)

I often reflect on how I live in terms of far removed of the way I used to. I realized a few things:
  • I have become a better person - I can read people's emotions better.
  • I understand the concept of hospitality.
  • I learned to be more patient.
  • Maybe God is keeping me away from worse things.
  • Maybe He's saying it's time to grow up already!
  • People deal with worse things.
  • At least there is peace.
  • Everything in life is a stepping stone for something else.
  • Trials and tribulations are a way to self-purify.
  • Many of the things I want to do or think I may are worldly desires. Having fun all the time doesn't serve me right.
  • Things that are for my own good can be done even without always having my way.
  • If my husband was into doing half the things I'd rather do than stay home, my house would be a mess, we would be stressed, my in-laws would respect me less.
  • I've seen the easier steadier type of culture practiced.
  • There aren't as many dawaths as there were when I first moved.
  • There are some cultural things that cannot and will not be enforced on me - don't drive, don't get out of the house, don't go to Islamic programs, don't talk to other men (when necessary), have your husband do everything for you non-house related but do everything for him.
  • Staying in my room will eventually lead me to clean it.
Ahh and I'm done for now!

The Middle

You are quiet but I see the silence muffled behind your thoughts.
It's hard to open up and ask you how you are.
You may not believe I've played an important part.
At times I do not want to get in the middle. That is where I'll always be.
If it weren't for the connections and suspensions we share, we'd be lost in two worlds apart.
Forgive me if I haven't been thoughtful, aggressive, or if I don't see where you're coming from.
I've long ago let go of that hope to make others understand me.
Respect is a thing that is shared between people. Those who don't give it won't receive it.
Relationships are a network of ties. You break one and it effects the others.
You cannot go on without others. Humankind was not built that way.
If you only could comprehend the bigger picture, the road of forgiveness and the hardship of patience... it would have made you happier.

Should, could, would...doesn't always change everything. But trying never gets old.

Just beyond your knowledge I am facing another battle. I am too afraid to share. Too afraid to spread the fire. If only I had spoken more clearly, loudly, and firmly. I didn't. If only I was more courageous and I was more willing to get in the middle.

Those who stand for righteousness will suffer the trials of this world.
Those who never try will suffer the anguish of silence and rejection.

Untitled.

In the name of God, Most Gracious Most Merciful.

For those who don't listen
I am here to hear
For those who cry
I will dry up your tears
For those who can't watch
I will be your eyes
For those who don't know
I will help you find out

For the times I can't
God is there
For the times I won't
God is there
For the times I shouldn't
God is there
For the times I wouldn't
God was there

For every tear that falls
There will be a million more
For every time you shout
Time will be frozen to the core
For the memories you create
Erase what is bad
For the memories you want to make
Repeat recycle and restore

For the times you felt broken
Put yourself back together
For the hardships you have endured
Patience is your cane
For the happiness you received
Be thankful to your Lord
For the wishes you were granted
You will be given many more, God-willing

For the petals that fall from the leaves
Even they, remember God
For the animals that go about their ways
Even they remember The Lord
For the clouds that line the sky
They obey the command they have been endured
For the world is a temporary place
The only comfort lies with The Lord

Reflections

The Hereafter is close.

What is one way to obtain the best of this world and the Hereafter? Maintaining ties with people.

The Prophet Muhammad (sallahu wa alayhissalam) said:
Love people for the sake of God.

Allah will ask on the Day of Judgment: “Where are those who loved each other for the sake of My glory? Today, on a day when there is no shade but Mine, I shall shade them with My shade.” (Muslim)

Like what you like, and like it for others too for the sake of God.

It was related from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "None of you can truly be said to believe until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself."

Keep your hands and tongue to yourself for the sake of God.

Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "They said, 'Messenger of Allah, whose Islam is best?' He said, 'The one from whose tongue and hands the Muslims are safe.' "

"Rabbanathina fid'dunya hasanathun wafil akhirathi hasanatun wakina adhaaban'nar" -  Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire.

May Allah help us increase our iman and sustain the best of both worlds. Ameen.
